Far And Near

She walks with me
in every step I take
breathing in my breath
and in my sigh
I hear her where I tread
in soft pursuit
taking my arm into
the day’s desire
I hear her in the smothering
folds of night
feel her thigh by mine
her hands soft touch
she trembles in my heart
flies my heart’s beat
runs with my blood
when at last I sleep.
