Kaleidoscope
Fascinated by her instability
he watches furtively
squinting into the sun.
A whirl of breeze
scatters her image
into lozenges of light
containing sky pieces
and oval miniatures
of background
seen right through
her shifting shape.
Distorted within
by inhibition
he cannot raise his eyes,
longing and embarrassment
topple his tightrope mind.
The breeze slaps down
breaking her into
kaleidoscopic flakes
and when the water settles
only trees and sky spin
where once she danced.
