Love’s Space
There is a space
white-lined in the heart
labelled tall and thin
‘Space to Love Yourself’.
The Kingsize space
I keep for you
cannot outstretch that
lonely darkening square,
can only grow as much
can only show as much
as loving me myself,
my space, my love.
Black rubber may erase,
bleak winter wipe the lines
or autumn leaves cake
long no-parking space:
but you can bring it back
bring out your pot of white
retouch the lines, the label too
‘Space to Love Yourself’.
