Only The Lover Knows
Sun’s rays tremble to water the distant sand,
sharp as glass flash jewels on the spider’s strand
bubble on the heaving sea and fizz at its thirsty edge,
lick soft thigh – warm tensile skin.
Birds skim music from the shivering sky,
bees rub legs in pollen lode,
tight the bud on the edge of spring
till the sap gushes out the leaves.
Trickling sand strokes curves of dune
warm massages between the toes,
breeze rattles golden hairs that tug at tingling skin,
hot breath pearls on the cold face of the moon,
sharp the blades of incandescent sky.
