Subtly The Smoke
Subtly the smoke pervades,
irritates the membranes of the mind,
embers of memories glimmer in the genes
and unknown faces flicker in the coals.
Voices crackle in deep chasms of thought,
spark in the blood, rush through the heart
humming an ancient tribal tune,
rhythms pulse through veins,
themes fade in slow symphonic sway
down vagaries of time.
Each fragile flag, woven from random strands
that spiral like smoke along the breeze or
waveform embedded in the omnipotent cell,
displays a pattern from some ancient form
carried by fresh faced warriors to the fray.
