Without Weight
Here is a space
where radio images
shatter invisible ether
where light shafts
pass through the black
unseen
airlessly sharp
stars grind frozen tears
to glass
and icelessly cold the dark
sucks at the flimsy
capsule’s clothes
silence beats the heart
echoes from planet to star
free-falling into space.
Below, the blinding blue
of the earth’s disk
bathed in curled clouds
bubbling with water and breath
shouts its colours loud
to the universe.
High as forever
the astronaut gasps for words
in a weightless heaven.
